Akshay took a grand entry at the trailer launch event. He did a 'puppet' act on stage. The film is directed by Ranjit M Tiwari. He said on the South remake of the film, 'It is inspired by Ratsasan. It was never called Mission Cinderella. It was always a puppet. We have shot it in Mussoorie and UK.

The story of 'Katputli' is set in a small town of Kasauli where 3 murders take place and a serial killer is behind it. Akshay and his team are on the hunt for the serial killer. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh. The film will be released directly on OTT instead of cinema hall. It will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 2.
