Reliance Power / Ambani's good days have come, he got an order for supply of 930 MW electricity

Reliance New Suntech, a subsidiary of Anil Ambani's Reliance Power, has won a 930 MW solar project. This is the country's largest project with a battery storage system. SECI conducted this auction on 9 December 2024. The project will operate under a 25-year PPA agreement.

Reliance Power: Reliance New Suntech Private Limited, a subsidiary of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power Limited, has achieved another major milestone in the field of solar energy. The company has secured a contract for a 930 MW solar power project with battery energy storage system in an auction conducted by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The auction was concluded on December 9, 2024, in which Reliance New Suntech made a successful bid at the rate of Rs 3.53 per unit.

Country's largest solar and battery storage project

Reliance Power said in a notice to the stock exchange that this project is the country's largest solar energy and battery storage system. Under this project, the company will have to install a minimum battery storage system of 465 MW / 1,860 MWH. Five companies were competing for projects of a total capacity of 2,000 MW in the auction, out of which Reliance New Suntech got the largest single project.

SECI and Reliance New Suntech Long Term Agreement

Reliance New Suntech and SECI will have a power purchase agreement (PPA) for 25 years. Under this agreement, the solar power purchased by SECI will be sold to various distribution companies in the country. The project will be developed on the Build, Own, Operate (BOO) model.

Importance of the project

The project will be connected to the Interstate Transmission System (ISTS) under the regulations of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC). The successful implementation of the project will further strengthen the position of Reliance Group in the renewable energy sector.
