Pakistan New PM: After the resignation of the Shahbaz Sharif government in Pakistan, a caretaker government has been formed there on Saturday. After the agreement between the government and the opposition parties on the name of Anwarul Haq Kakar, his name was announced. Anwarul is a resident of Balochistan.

Earlier, Pakistan's President Arif Alvi had directed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who resigned recently, and Raja Riaz, the outgoing Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, to decide on the appointment of caretaker Prime Minister by Saturday. In Islamabad, both the leaders agreed on the name of Anwar. Anwarul Haq Kakar, who belongs to Balochistan, is likely to take oath as caretaker Prime Minister today itself. Anwar is a senator from the Balochistan National Party.

Consensus made after several rounds of meeting

After the dissolution of the National Assembly in Pakistan on August 9, several rounds of meetings took place between PM Shahbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz to decide the acting Prime Minister. Sharif had yesterday said in the capital Islamabad that he and Raja Riaz would mutually agree on this post by August 12 (Saturday).

At the same time, Sharif had also said, “The coalition partners will also be taken into confidence before taking a final decision on choosing the caretaker PM. I was supposed to meet Riyaz on Friday, but due to some reasons this meeting could not happen.

Caretaker PM had to decide in 3 days of dissolution

President Arif Alvi, in a letter to Shehbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz, said that he had dissolved the National Assembly on Wednesday on the advice of Prime Minister Sharif. At the same time, he said that within three days of the dissolution of the National Assembly under Article-224A, Sharif and Riyaz will together decide the name of a leader for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.

According to the constitution, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition have to agree on the name of the caretaker Prime Minister within 3 days. If the two leaders do not agree on any name, then the matter will be sent to the parliamentary committee. If the parliamentary committee is also unable to take a decision, the Election Commission of Pakistan will have the right to decide the name of the caretaker PM. However, the commission will have to choose the name of the acting PM from the list shared and for this he will have two days.
