Bodies of five laborers were found in a dense forest of 19 missing from a road construction site in Kurung Kume district of Arunachal Pradesh. Kurung Kume Deputy Commissioner Nighi Bengia said rescue teams have found five decomposed bodies in the dense forest between Huri and Tapa in the past few days.

Arunachal Pradesh : Bodies of five laborers were found in a dense forest of 19 missing from a road construction site in Kurung Kume district of Arunachal Pradesh. Kurung Kume Deputy Commissioner Nighi Bengia said rescue teams have found five decomposed bodies in the dense forest between Huri and Tapa in the past few days. He said the bodies were found at different places and on different dates. One body was recovered on 25 July, three bodies on 26 July and one on 28 July.

Bongia said the death toll in the incident has risen to six with the discovery of five bodies. He said that a person named Hekmat Ali had drowned in the Furak river. With this, the total number of deaths increased to six. However, the five mutilated bodies could not be brought back. It was feared that most of the missing laborers might have drowned in the river.

The workers from Assam had fled the construction site in Damin Circle, 200 km from Koloriang's district headquarters on the Indo-China border, on July 5 after they were denied leave to go home during Eid. They had left for their homes on foot in two groups of eight and 11 and have been missing since then.

Bengia informed that till now ten laborers were rescued in pitiable condition and they are getting health benefits at health centres. "The police, SDRF and local teams have been directed to continue the search operation till the remaining three missing laborers are found dead or alive," the district commissioner said.

Bodies of four laborers identified

The DC said the bodies of four of the five rescued laborers have been identified as Forizul Haque, Moizal Haque, Sohar Ali and Abul Hussain. However, the fifth body is yet to be identified. He said, the healthy laborers rescued include Khairul Islam (26), Majidul Ali (30), Monohar Hussain (18), Inamul Hussain (18), Zainal Ali (45), Hamidul Hussain, Abdul Amin, Ibrahim Ali, Kholebuddin Sheikh ( 27) and Shamidul, Sheikh (19).
