A set of before and after pictures show how the California wildfire turned San Francisco's skies orange. California is currently battling its most destructive wildfire season on record. More than 2,000 homes and other buildings have burned in the fire, which began several weeks ago as a lightning-sparked collection of fires northeast of San Francisco.

California: California: San Francisco's sky turned an ominious orange color earlier week when wildfire smoke blocked the sun.

California is currently battling its most destructive wildfire season on record.

More than 2,000 homes and other buildings have burned in the fire, which began several weeks ago as a lightning-sparked collection of fires northeast of San Francisco.

On September 10, Reuters photographer Stephen Lam set out to photograph five San Francisco destinations that he previously photographed under clear conditions in March.

His before and after photos show how the wildfire smoke transformed the city into something out of a post-apocalyptc film.
