Myanmar Earthquake: The severe earthquake in Myanmar caused massive devastation, in which more than a thousand people have lost their lives. Amidst this natural disaster, India launched 'Operation Brahma' as humanitarian aid. On March 29, an Indian Air Force plane took off from Hindon Airbase carrying 15 tonnes of relief material and reached Yangon at 8 am.

India's quick humanitarian assistance

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Ambassador handed over this relief material to the Chief Minister of Yangon. Air Force's C17 Globemaster and C130J Hercules aircraft have been sent by India with rescue teams, medical teams and necessary equipment. Two C17 aircraft will reach Myanmar late at night carrying a field hospital, where the injured will be treated.

Importance of the name 'Operation Brahma'

The Ministry of External Affairs said that this mission was named 'Operation Brahma' because Brahma is considered the god of creation. India is helping Myanmar to overcome this crisis and move towards a new future by assisting in reconstruction.

Use of modern equipment in rescue operations

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has been deployed with advanced equipment for relief work in earthquake affected areas. These include concrete cutters, plasma cutting machines, drilling machines and search dogs.
