An earthquake of 5.5 magnitude struck 34 km away from Meiktila in Myanmar on Sunday morning at 7:54 am. People came out of their houses. The epicentre of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 km. More than 3600 people have died due to the recent severe earthquake.

Myanmar Earthquake News: On the morning of Sunday, 13 April 2025, Myanmar once again shook with strong tremors of earthquake. The epicenter of this earthquake of 5.5 magnitude at around 7:54 am was located about 34 kilometers away from Meiktila. The source of the earthquake was only 10 kilometers below the ground, due to which the tremors were felt to be extremely intense and dangerous.

According to the report of the National Center for Seismology, the effect of the earthquake was felt especially in Kyaukse, Meiktila and its surrounding areas. People, frightened by the sudden tremors, ran out of their homes and towards open spaces to save their lives. Although, there has been no confirmation of any loss of life or property so far, but the earthquake disrupted life for some time.

It is worth noting that Myanmar has recently suffered the tragedy of a severe earthquake. The devastating earthquake of 7.7 magnitude on 28 March 2025 shook the entire country. So far, more than 3600 people have been confirmed dead and more than 5000 injured in that disaster.

The continuous earthquake tremors have created an atmosphere of panic in the entire area. Experts believe that the activities of tectonic plates are currently active in the area, due to which the possibility of earthquake may remain in the future as well.

Government agencies are keeping an eye on the situation and have started preparing for relief and rescue operations in the earthquake affected areas. Citizens have also been appealed to remain alert and follow the instructions of the administration in any emergency situation.
