According to the report, according to the target set in the United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC), it is to be reduced by 45 percent by 2030. India has come very close to this target.

This is how success was achieved

According to experts, this success has been achieved due to renewable energy production and increase in forest cover. Forest cover has reached 24.56% as of 2019. During this period, the contribution from thermal power plants generating electricity from coal has come down from 75% to 73%.

The report will be submitted to the UN

The report titled 'The Third National Communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change' will be submitted to the UN climate change body during the ongoing climate summit in Dubai.

The report also said that India's GDP grew at a cumulative annual growth rate of 7 percent over these 14 years, but its greenhouse gas emissions grew only 4 percent per year during this period. This shows that India has been successful in achieving its economic growth without harming the environment. According to experts, this success has been achieved due to renewable energy production and increase in forest cover.

Green house gas emissions decreased rapidly

The report also revealed that between 2014-16, greenhouse gas emissions were decreasing at the rate of 1.5 percent annually. At the same time, between 2016-19, it started decreasing at the rate of three percent. Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav said India has reduced its GDP emissions intensity by 33 percent between 2005 and 2019. If we look at it, we have achieved this goal almost 11 years ago. Despite falling emissions, the Indian economy is growing.

Developed countries have been targeting India
