IPL 2024 / Big action by BCCI's anti-corruption unit in the matches of Mumbai, Rajasthan and Delhi

BCCI's anti-corruption unit has taken major action during two IPL matches. According to the report of The Hindu, the Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested suspected bookies from these matches and handed them over to the local police. Of the two matches in which suspected bookies were caught and handed over to the police, one was played in Jaipur. The second match was on Mumbai ground.

According to the report of The Hindu, the Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested suspected bookies from these matches and handed them over to the local police. The one team that was common in the matches played at both Jaipur and Mumbai venues was Rajasthan Royals. Quoting a BCCI official, The Hindu wrote that the anti-corruption unit has handed over two suspected bookies to the police. One of these was taken out of the corporate box of Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur during the match played between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals on March 28. And the second one from the MCA President Box of Wankhede Stadium during the match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians on 1 April.

FIR registered against suspected bookies

According to the information received, an FIR was registered against both the suspected bookies in Jaipur. Out of this, the suspect arrested from Mumbai is believed to have been caught by mistake. According to Marine Drive Police, nothing has been found from the electronic devices possessed by both the suspects, which could cast suspicion on them.

If reports are to be believed, the action of the anti-corruption unit has been taken on the basis of CCTV and live TV footage. The BCCI official told The Hindu that the anti-corruption unit is continuously giving its best to keep the IPL away from bookies. In this he is also getting help from the machinery of BCCI.

In the two matches in which the matter pertains, RR won both.

Let us tell you that in the two matches in which news of action against suspected bookies came to light, in the match played on March 28, Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 12 runs. In the match on April 1, Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets with 27 balls remaining. Meaning both the matches were not only related to Rajasthan Royals. In fact, Rajasthan team had won both.
