IPL 2022 / Chahal reveals I wear Purple Cap only for an over each game when the broadcasters request me to

Rajasthan Royals (RR) veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has once again won the Purple Cap in IPL 2022. Chahal had a purple cap on his head for a long time, but RCB bowler Wanindu Hasaranga snatched it from him. However, Chahal again withdrew the cap after taking a wicket against Lucknow Super Giants.

Chahal has taken 24 wickets in this season so far, while Hasranga has one wicket less than him. RR spinner Chahal doesn't always wear it even though he has had a purple cap for a long time. He himself has disclosed this in a conversation with Cricinfo.

Yuji also told that on whose behest he wears purple. Chahal said, 'I do not wear a purple cap. I wear it only for one over, that too when broadcasters request me to do it. I have worn the cap only 15 or 20 times in my career so far. I don't usually wear caps. I respect purple caps a lot. But I find it awkward to wear this cap.

Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket for 42 runs against Lucknow on Sunday. After this, Chahal has now again got the most wickets and he has again won the Purple Cap. In the race for the Purple Cap, Chahal took this cap back from Hasranga. Chahal has 24 wickets from 13 matches while Hasaranga has 23 wickets.
