The substance used in this explosion is magnesium hydride, a silver-like powder, which was earlier used to transport hydrogen in power-less areas. Now its form has changed - it has become the next generation destructive weapon.

How does it work?

As soon as the conventional explosive is activated in this device, magnesium hydride heats up and rapidly releases hydrogen gas. This gas is extremely flammable and in a moment it creates a huge fireball, whose temperature is more than 1000 degrees Celsius. This fire keeps burning continuously for about two seconds, which is 15 times longer than conventional explosives. The most surprising thing is that there is no radiation in this explosion.

Magnesium hydride: A new formula for destruction

Till now it was difficult to make this dangerous substance in large quantities, because its manufacturing required very high temperature and pressure. Also, there is a danger of immediate explosion if it comes in the air. But China has mastered the technology and built a large factory in Shanxi province, which can make 150 tons of magnesium hydride every year.

Hydrogen: Less energy, more destruction

Hydrogen's flammability and ability to spread rapidly make it extremely dangerous. Scientists believe that it is very easy to burn and once the fire starts, it becomes very difficult to stop it.
