Tirupati Balaji: A new controversy has erupted after adulteration was confirmed in the prasad of the world famous Tirupati Venkateswara temple. The TDP (Telugu Desam Party) has claimed that the ghee used in the prasad has been found to be mixed with animal fat. According to the report of the Gujarat-based livestock laboratory, substandard materials are being used in making the laddus, which include beef fat, fish oil and palm oil.

What did the lab report reveal?

TDP spokesperson Anam Venkat Raman Reddy presented the laboratory report to reporters, which clearly confirmed the presence of "beef fat". The report also said that pig fat and fish oil were also used in the samples. The tests were conducted on July 9, 2024, and the report came on July 16.

This laboratory of the National Dairy Development Board of Gujarat found that animal fat was used in making Tirupati laddus during the reign of the YSRCP.

Waiting for official response

However, this report has not been officially confirmed by the Andhra Pradesh government or Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). There has been a stir in the political corridors regarding this matter.

Political reactions

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday alleged that the YSRCP government used substandard material in making Tirupati laddu. The YSR Congress Party has strongly denied this allegation.

The BJP has demanded immediate action after this report. BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that "God will not forgive for this big betrayal with Hindus." At the same time, MLA Raja Singh called it a "direct attack on our cultural and religious heritage" and appealed to the government to take action.

Impact on religious faith

This controversy has shaken the faith of devotees towards the prasad of Tirupati Venkateswara Temple. Tirupati laddu, which is an important prasad for millions of devotees, has now come under question.

As the investigation progresses and more details emerge, it remains to be seen what will be the outcome of this controversy and what effect it will have on the faith of the devotees. The reputation of the Tirupati temple and the traditions based on devotion are waiting for a resolution of this matter.
