The festival of Rakshabandhan is celebrated every year on Shravani Purnima with great pomp.

This time the full moon of Shravan month will not be for one day, but for two days. According to astrology, Shravan Purnima is falling on 11th and 12th August. This is the reason that some people in the district are talking about celebrating Raksha Bandhan on August 11 and some are claiming that August 12 will be a festival. However, in most places in the district, Raksha Bandhan is being celebrated only on 12 August. This time the full moon will enter at 9.35 am on August 11, which will remain till 7.16 am on August 12, but is Bhadra till 8.25 pm on August 11. Therefore, this day is not auspicious for Rakshabandhan.

Bhadra will end after 8.25 pm on 11th August. After this sisters will be able to tie rakhi to brothers, but this festival is not celebrated at night. Therefore, the next day, the festival of Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on 12th August, Friday as the rising date. It is said that even though the full moon will end at 7.16 in the morning on 12th August, but whose rise is the belief of his setting. Therefore, on August 12, sisters will be able to tie rakhi to their brothers throughout the day. The auspicious yoga for Raksha Bandhan occurs after Bhadra.
