Delhi Mayor Election 2023 News: The Aam Aadmi Party was finally successful in getting its first mayor in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. AAP candidate Shaili Oberoi defeated BJP's Rekha Gupta in the elections held on Wednesday following the Supreme Court's order after three unsuccessful attempts to hold elections to the post of mayor by MCD.

Let us tell you that after the order of the Supreme Court, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had approved the convening of the meeting of the Corporation House for the election of the mayor's post last week.

'Goons lost'

After the election results were announced, Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted, 'The goons have lost, the public has won. Many congratulations to all the workers on becoming the Mayor of Aam Aadmi Party in Municipal Corporation of Delhi and once again whole hearted gratitude to the people of Delhi. Congratulations to AAP's first mayor Shelly Oberoi as well.

'Will run the House in a constitutional manner'

After winning the election, Shelly Oberoi said, 'I assure all of you that I will run this House in a constitutional manner. I hope that all of you will maintain the dignity of the House and cooperate in its smooth functioning.
