Delhi Weather Update: North India is in the grip of severe cold these days. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the new year will begin with shivering cold. From the capital Delhi to the hilly and plain areas, the outbreak of cold is increasing everywhere. Cold wave and snowfall have affected life, while fog and rain have added to the difficulties.

Dense fog and falling temperature in Delhi and NCR

The national capital Delhi has recorded a sharp drop in temperature after rain and hailstorm. The IMD has issued a dense fog alert in Delhi. In the last 24 hours, Delhi received 41.2 mm of rain, due to which the day temperature remained below normal. It was cloudy throughout the day on Saturday, and the number of vehicles on the roads was seen less. Light wind and dense fog are expected on Sunday.

Snowfall in the mountains increased the cold

Snowfall in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand has disrupted life. Due to heavy snowfall in Kashmir, the temperature went below zero. Air, rail and road traffic was disrupted, and there were also problems in power and water supply.

People are shivering due to snowfall in high altitude areas and cold wave in lower areas of Uttarakhand. Snowfall at tourist places like Auli, Harshil and Hemkund Sahib has created picturesque views, but living has become difficult.

Cold wave in plains

The effect of cold is increasing in the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Temperatures have dropped due to rain and hailstorm. Dense fog prevailed in many parts of Rajasthan on Saturday, due to which severe cold forced people to huddle indoors.

IMD forecast and warning

The Meteorological Department has predicted a drop in minimum temperature by 3-5 degrees Celsius in northwest India in the next two days. Similar drop in temperature can be seen in western and central India as well. Temperatures are also expected to fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius in eastern India in the next two days.

Preparations to protect from cold

Bonfires and warm clothes are being used to avoid the cold. The administration has advised people to be alert and take all necessary steps to protect themselves from the cold. Also, people have been requested to avoid unnecessary travel during cold wave and fog.

Conclusion

The winter in North India is at its peak. Snowfall in the mountains and cold wave in the plains have deepened the effect of cold. According to the warning of the Meteorological Department, the outbreak of cold may increase further in the coming days. In such a situation, it is very important to take care of caution and safety.
