Delhi News / Electricity will become expensive in Delhi! Minister Ashish Sood gave information

The second session of the BJP government started in Delhi, but before the budget, there was news of electricity becoming costlier. Power Minister Ashish Sood blamed the previous government for the rising prices. The promise of 300 units of free electricity has not been fulfilled till now, which has increased the concern among the public.

Delhi News: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in Delhi after almost 27 years. The second session of the Delhi Assembly under the leadership of the current government started today, and tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday, the BJP government is going to present its first budget. However, even before the budget is presented, Delhiites have suffered a major setback.

Announcement of increase in electricity prices

Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood, while giving information, said that there will be an increase in electricity prices in Delhi in the coming time. He said that the previous government had left a debt of Rs 27,000 crore of regulatory assets on discom companies through the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC). To recoup this debt, power companies are authorized to increase the tariff.

Ashish Sood also said that during the tenure of the previous government, the High Court had directed the DERC to bring the tariff order, but the then government failed to protect the interests of the public. He further said that there is a certain increase in electricity prices and some people may try to make it a political issue. However, the current government is in constant touch with DERC on this subject and is observing it to take appropriate decision.

Question on 300 unit free electricity scheme

The BJP government had promised to give 300 units of free electricity to the people of Delhi in its election manifesto, but this scheme has not been implemented yet. No official announcement has been made by the government in this regard. On the other hand, the news of a possible increase in electricity rates has increased concern among the public.

The government says that discussions are going on on this subject and appropriate steps will be taken. Now it remains to be seen whether the people of Delhi get any relief or not, or they will have to bear the burden of increased electricity rates.

Political reaction and public opinion

Opposition parties have targeted the BJP government over the possible increase in electricity rates. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders say that the BJP is reneging on its promises and increasing inflation instead of giving relief to the public. At the same time, Congress has also accused the government of failed policies.

There are mixed reactions from the public regarding this decision. Some people are supporting the government's decision, while many people are angry with this decision.
