Suryakumar Yadav said in a conversation with BCCI TV, 'My relationship with Gautam Gambhir is special. I played for the first time in KKR in 2014 under his captaincy. My relationship with him is very deep and he knows how I work and what my attitude towards the game is. Suryakumar Yadav has played for Kolkata in the IPL and was the vice-captain under Gautam Gambhir's captaincy. Obviously, this connection also helped him become the captain of Team India.

Suryakumar Yadav did not practice batting
