According to a PCB source, selector Aaqib Javed has also recommended the inclusion of an additional wicketkeeper-batsman in the ODI squad to improve the balance of the team.

Rauf's excellent record on foreign soil

Haris Rauf's domestic ODI performance may not have been that impressive, but he has been seen on foreign pitches. Earlier, he took 10 wickets in the ODI series against Australia and played an important role in helping Pakistan clean sweep 3-0. His experience and speed will strengthen Pakistan's bowling attack.

Glimpses of international career

Haris Rauf made his ODI debut for Pakistan in 2020 and has since taken 85 wickets in 48 ODIs. He has 118 wickets to his name in T20 Internationals, while he has one wicket to his credit in Test cricket.
