Army will get 83 fighter jets by 2028

The central government had signed a huge contract worth Rs 46,898 crore for 83 advanced Tejas Mark-1A jets in 2021. Deliveries are scheduled between March 2024 and February 2028. The Indian Air Force already has two Tejas squadrons, 'Flying Daggers' and 'Flying Bullets', one of which is now deployed in the south-western sector.

These things are special in fighter jet

Many advanced technologies have been used in the fighter jet Tejas MK-1A as compared to the previous aircraft. It has an electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, an advanced electronic warfare (EW) suite and the ability to carry a wide range of air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons, among other improvements. It is fitted with advanced beyond visual range (BVR), air-to-air missiles and external self-protection jammers. Tejas fighter aircraft will become the main fighter jet of the Indian Air Force in the coming time, replacing foreign jet aircraft.
