The National Medical Commission (NMC) has taken an unprecedented decision to rein in the fees of crores in private medical colleges of the country. Now the fees for 50 percent seats in private medical colleges of the country will be equal to that of Government Medical Colleges.Big change in fees of private medical collegesThe National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notification saying that the fees of 50 percent seats in all private medical colleges of the country will be equal to the fees of government medical colleges of the state in which the colleges are located.Colleges will not be able to charge extra feesAlong with this, the fees in the remaining 50 percent seats of private medical colleges will be decided by the fee regulatory authority of that state. Apart from this, no medical college administration will be able to charge any extra fee for donation etc.Preference will be given on the basis of meritIn the 50 percent seats of private medical colleges, where provision has been made for fees equal to that of government medical colleges, preference will be given on the basis of merit, that is, on the basis of the ranking of NEET examination.It is worth noting that this decision of the government will give a big benefit to the students studying medicine. Colleges charging crores of rupees in the name of fees will no longer be able to exploit the students.
