Jharkhand Government: The Jharkhand government has taken an important decision in the interest of farmers. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday, it was announced that in addition to the Center's minimum support price (MSP) for paddy in the financial year 2024-25, farmers will be given a bonus of Rs 100 per quintal. A total of Rs 60 crore has been approved for this decision, taking another step towards strengthening the economic condition of the farmers.

Objective of bonus

The purpose of this bonus is to give due respect to the hard work of the farmers and increase their income. Officer Vandana Dadel said that the state government is planning to buy 6 lakh tonnes of paddy from farmers this year. The Center has fixed an MSP of Rs 2,300 per quintal for normal variety of paddy and Rs 2,320 for grade-A variety. Thus, this decision of the state government will prove to be an important support for the farmers.

More benefits for farmers

The cabinet meeting not only discussed the paddy bonus, but a total of 36 proposals were approved. These include a proposal to provide smartphones worth Rs 12,000 to 29,604 'Jal Sahia' across the state. This step will be important to improve water services in rural areas and will accelerate the related work.

Paddy production in India

The figures of paddy production in India are also encouraging. The total paddy production in the country is expected to be 1367 lakh metric tonnes in 2023-24. Paddy production is notable in states like Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab and Odisha. Among these, Telangana ranks first with 166.31 lakh metric tonnes.

Conclusion

This decision of the Jharkhand government will definitely empower the farmers and is a big step towards economic security for them. Such steps will not only improve the condition of the farmers but will also strengthen the agricultural system of the state. Thus, this initiative of Jharkhand government will not only be helpful in increasing the crop yield but will also play a vital role in improving the living standards of the farmers.
