GPS Toll Tax: The Ministry of National Highways and Transport has taken a new step for toll tax collection across the country. Now, the GPS based toll tax system has been implemented in hybrid mode on Panipat-Hisar National Highway 709 in Haryana. This new system is an important step towards making the collection of toll fee even more accurate and convenient while traveling on the road. What is GPS Toll Tax?This system implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has been named Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). Under this system, vehicles on National Highways and Expressways will pay toll tax on 'Pay As You Use' basis. In this, your vehicle will be given free travel facility for only 20 kilometers. As soon as your vehicle crosses this limit, toll tax collection will start.Advantages of GNSS Toll SystemThe GNSS toll system has many benefits:
- Accurate Collection: Under this system, you will have to pay toll tax only for the distance your vehicle will cover on the National Highway or Expressway.
- Real-time tracking: This system provides the facility to track the real-time location of your vehicle.
- Relief from jam: The problem of jam at traditional toll plazas will be reduced, as toll collection will be done through satellite system.
- Although GNSS toll system has many advantages, there may be some problems associated with it:
- Signal problems: Satellite signal problems may arise in tunnel and ghat sections. Signal may also be lost in bad weather.
- Privacy concerns: GNSS system tracks the movement of your vehicle, which may raise privacy concerns.
