Citizen Amendment Act: Political developments changed rapidly in Bihar and the political wheel turned such that NDA government was formed here again. Till yesterday Sunday morning, Nitish Kumar was leading the Grand Alliance government, but by the evening he became the head of the NDA government. This is being considered a big change before the Lok Sabha elections. But today on Monday, Union Minister Shantanu Thakur claimed that CAA will be implemented within a week. BJP is saying that there is no preparation right now. In such a situation, will this be possible after Nitish's re-entry into NDA?

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has not been enthusiastic about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He has said that we will not allow CAA to be implemented in our state Bihar. There is a need for debate on CAA in the country. Nitish has been against both CAA and NRC. But Union Minister Shantanu Thakur claimed that CAA will be implemented in the country within a week. BJP MP from Matua community dominated Bongaon in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, Shantanu Thakur said that the CAA law will be implemented expeditiously within 7 days.

BJP in favor of implementing CAA

There was a lot of controversy in 2020 regarding CAA. The purpose of the Citizenship Amendment Act brought by the BJP government at the Center in the year 2019 is to provide relief to non-Muslims, including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians, who had come to India from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and settled in India before December 31, 2014. To provide Indian citizenship to migrant people. However, this law faced huge opposition in the country.

This claim was made at a time when news came in the beginning of the month that the rules of this law would be notified much before the announcement of elections. Between this news and the minister's claim, political developments in Bihar changed rapidly and Nitish suddenly joined NDA. BJP has always been in favor of implementing CAA. Last month in December in Kolkata, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had once again claimed that CAA has now become the law of the country. No one can stop it from being implemented. He accused Mamata Banerjee of misleading people on this issue.

Will it be easy for BJP now?

But now the question is being raised that after Nitish Kumar returns to NDA again, will it be easy for the Central Government to implement CAA. If we look at it once, it does not seem so because neither BJP nor the government has made any formal announcement on this issue. BJP sources say that at present nothing is being done on CAA.

Nitish Kumar may have been a part of NDA for a long time, but his opinion on many issues has been different from BJP. He has been against CAA and NRC. Nitish talks about inclusive development. Apart from CAA and NRC, while Nitish is in favor of caste census, BJP has been against it. Even on the issue of Ram temple, he is contradicting BJP's aggression.

Target of 400 seats and Lok Sabha elections

Many top leaders of BJP and the party have been continuously talking about the implementation of CAA and NRC, whereas like West Bengal, there were huge protests against these laws in Bihar too. The vegetable garden of the capital Patna was called 'Shaheen Bagh of Bihar' because of its performance. In the year 2020, there were huge protests in the entire state. This protest was not limited to Bengal and Bihar only. In fact, there was huge protest against CAA-NRC in entire North-East India including Assam, Uttar Pradesh as well as across the country.

BJP aims to win more than 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For this he will need votes from every section. In such a situation, it does not seem possible that this will be possible by raising the issue of CAA-NRC because a large section of the country had protested against these laws. With Nitish coming together, BJP may have to keep these issues aside in Bihar. BJP has alliance with many parties and every state has its own political circumstances. In such a situation, BJP, which has a target of 400, will have to keep this scheme behind the doors till the elections.
