Israel-Lebanon News: The Israeli army has recently expressed regret over the death of three Lebanese soldiers in southern Lebanon. This unfortunate incident happened when Israeli soldiers targeted a vehicle mistaking it to be Hezbollah's, but Lebanese army soldiers were riding in it. The Israeli army clarified that their intention was not to fight the Lebanese army, but their goal was to destroy the bases of the terrorist organization Hezbollah.

Israeli army statement

The Israeli army said that on Sunday their soldiers targeted a Hezbollah truck, which had a launcher and missiles. However, unfortunately another truck was also targeted, which had Lebanese soldiers. Expressing regret over the incident, the Israeli army said, "We are not fighting against the Lebanese army and regret this unwanted situation."

Hezbollah's response

After the death of Hamas' top leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza, Hezbollah has announced to enter a new phase of its struggle against Israel. Yahya Sinwar is believed to be the mastermind behind the October 7 attack on southern Israel last year, which triggered a fierce war between Israel and Hamas.

Can the war stop?

After the death of Yahya Sinwar, there is some hope that this could end the war between Israel and Hamas. Israel's allies and residents of Gaza have also expressed hope about this possibility. However, both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas have made it clear that the fighting will continue until their goals are met.

Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas and free the hostages. On the other hand, Hamas has made it clear that it will release the hostages only in exchange for a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

Stand of the Lebanese army

The Lebanese army has largely remained aloof throughout this conflict. The Lebanese army is not strong enough to impose its will on Hezbollah or fully defend the country from Israeli aggression. Over the past year, when Israel and Hezbollah have been in conflict, the Lebanese army has kept itself out of the conflict.

Conclusion

The tension between Israel and Hezbollah seems to be escalating again, and the Lebanese army's involvement in unfortunate incidents could further complicate the situation. Although the Israeli army has expressed regret over the incident, efforts to establish peace in the region are considered challenging amid these conflicts.
