Weather Update: With the arrival of winter season, snowfall has started in the hilly states of India. Heavy snowfall is currently occurring in the high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Pilgrimage sites like Kedarnath and Badrinath in Uttarakhand have been covered in a white sheet of snow. Light snowfall has also been observed in some parts of Nainital and Kumaon.

While the beauty of the mountains has increased due to snowfall, the effect of cold is also clearly visible in the plains.

Temperature likely to drop further due to cold wave

Due to snowfall, the cold wave is likely to intensify in the plains of North India, especially Delhi-NCR. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast further drop in temperature in the next two-three days.

On Sunday, December 15, the minimum temperature in Delhi is likely to be around 5 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the maximum temperature will be up to 21 degrees Celsius. Similar weather is expected to remain on Monday as well, where cold winds will blow despite bright sunshine. According to the IMD, the cold wave will continue in Delhi and NCR in the coming days.

Cold havoc in Rajasthan and Central India too

Temperatures may go well below normal in states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The minimum temperature is likely to be 5 degrees Celsius or less in many areas of Rajasthan. At the same time, the temperature in Madhya Pradesh and eastern Uttar Pradesh may drop from 7 to 5 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has also said that from December 19 to December 25, many parts of the country, especially Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Central India, will be affected by the cold wave.

Cold forecast across the country

The Meteorological Department has said in its latest bulletin that the minimum temperature will remain below 10 degrees Celsius in most parts of northwest, central and eastern India. No major change is expected in this cold till the third week of December.

Due to cold winds in the plains, people have been advised to take special precautions. In this period of cold, especially children and the elderly are being advised to wear warm clothes and stay safe in homes.

Enjoy tourism and snowfall

This snowfall has increased the trend of tourists in hilly states. Tourists are enjoying snowfall at places like Manali, Shimla in Himachal and Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir. Auli in Uttarakhand is also seeing a huge crowd of tourists for skiing.

While snowfall has boosted tourism on the one hand, the cold has affected the daily lives of people on the other. There is little hope of relief from cold and cold wave in the coming weeks. Therefore, everyone needs to be cautious to avoid the cold.

Conclusion: This period of snowfall in hilly states and cold in the plains is showing the true colors of winter. In such a situation, this season can be enjoyed with warm clothes and precautions.
