PAK vs ENG: Star batsman Joe Root surprised the cricket world by batting with the left hand on the fourth day of the first Test between Pakistan and England. Root made the most of batsman-friendly conditions in Rawalpindi, when he faced left-armer Zahid Mahmood in the first two balls of the sixth over from Pakistani spinner.

Right-handed Joe Root did a wonderful feat

It happened in the 23rd over of England's second innings, with the former England captain batting left-handed shortly after completing his half-century. He sent the first ball straight to the fielder at square leg and did not get a run. Root hit the same shot on the second ball, but this time he narrowly escaped.

The 31-year-old Root gave the hint as he quickly dropped the idea and played the rest of his innings evenly, as he usually does as a right-handed batsman. But Root (73) was caught by Imam as England continued the aggressive approach they had shown consistently in this first Test. At the end of the fourth day's play, Pakistan's score was 80/2 and they needed 263 runs to win the first Test against England.
