Amid simmering factionalism within the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia is expected to meet party president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday, over the next Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president.

Mr. Scindia, whose supporters are rooting for him for the post, has previously stated that the decision of the top leadership, whatever it may be, will be final and he will accept it.

He will be in the city to chair the meeting of the screening committee for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly election.

Two days ago, Chief Minister Kamal Nath, the interim PCC president, had called on Ms. Gandhi to brief her on State Minister Umang Singhar’s tirade against former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, a matter which has been referred to the disciplinary committee of A.K. Antony.

Writing to Ms. Gandhi, Mr. Singhar had stated that Mr. Singh was trying to destabilise the State government and establish himself as the power centre.

Meanwhile, Gohad MLA Ranbir Jatav and Ambah MLA Kamlesh Jatav had accused Health Minister Tulsiram Silawat of corruption, but a day later backtracked on it.
