Delhi Assembly: The special session of Delhi Assembly is going to be held on Friday. This information has been given in a document released by the Assembly on Wednesday. The session is going to take place amid the ongoing political turmoil over the action of central investigative agencies in connection with the excise policy of the Delhi government and allegations of BJP wooing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs.

According to the document released by the Vidhan Sabha, the session will start from 11 pm on August 26. Earlier in the day, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) attempt to topple his government was a serious issue. The matter was also discussed in the meeting of the Political Affairs Committee of AAP held on Wednesday evening. Also on Thursday, AAP has called a meeting of MLAs.

Allegations on BJP

The committee meeting held at Kejriwal's residence condemned the BJP's alleged attempts to woo the MLAs. AAP leaders have alleged that the BJP had offered money to four MLAs to leave the party.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered a money laundering case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and others after taking cognizance of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR registered in connection with the probe into alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy.

In the Excise Policy case of 2021-22, the CBI arrested Sisodia in Delhi on August 19, former Excise Commissioner of Delhi A. Raids were conducted at the residences of Gopi Krishna and 19 other places in seven states and union territories. Sisodia holds several portfolios including products and education. The ED will probe whether there were alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy issued in November last year.
