Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga: The day of Mahashivaratri is best to please Lord Shiva. On this day, those who observe fast and worship him with devotion, all their wishes are fulfilled. It is considered very auspicious to visit Dwadash Jyotirlinga on this day. All these 12 Jyotirlingas are in different parts of India. It is a belief that only by seeing this Jyotirlinga all the sufferings of a person go away and every wish is fulfilled. Today we will talk about Bhimashankar, the sixth Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva.Birth of BhimaBhimashankar Jyotirlinga is situated on the Sahyadri mountain, about 110 kilometers away from Pune in Maharashtra. There is a mythological story behind this Jyotirlinga, due to which it was established. According to the legend, Lord Shri Ram along with Lankapati Ravana had killed his younger brother Kumbhkaran. After the death of Kumbhkaran, his son Bhima was born.strict penanceWhen Bhima grew up, he came to know about the killing of his father by Lord Rama. Hearing this, he became very angry and vowed to kill Shri Ram. After this, Bhima did severe penance of Brahma ji for many years. Pleased with the penance, Brahmaji gave Bhima the boon of being victorious forever.WarningAfter getting the boon, Bhima started creating a ruckus. Gods and Gods along with humans started getting scared of him. At last all the deities reached Lord Shiva in distress and started praying to save him from Bhima. After this Lord Shiva defeated Bhima in the war. After this, all the gods prayed to Lord Shiva to be established at this place in the form of Jyotirlinga. After listening to his prayer, Bholeshankar got established there. This place later became famous as Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga.
