HC Judges Transfer / Law Ministry Notifies Transfer Of 15 Judges Of 11 High Courts In India

There has been a major reshuffle in the Higher Judiciary of the country. The Law Ministry on Tuesday transferred 15 judges of 11 High Courts of the country. The Justice Department said that in exercise of the power conferred under the Constitution of India, the President has, in consultation with the Chief Justice, transferred the judges of the High Court.

New Delhi: There has been a major reshuffle in the Higher Judiciary of the country. The Law Ministry on Tuesday transferred 15 judges of 11 High Courts of the country. The Justice Department said that in exercise of the power conferred under the Constitution of India, the President has, in consultation with the Chief Justice, transferred the judges of the High Court.

  • Justice Jaswant Singh of Punjab and Haryana High Court transferred to Orissa High Court
  • Justice Sabina of Rajasthan High Court transferred to Himachal Pradesh High Court
  • Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra of Orissa High Court sent to Uttarakhand High Court
  • Chhattisgarh High Court Judge Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava transferred to Rajasthan High Court
  • Patna High Court Judge Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah transferred to Andhra Pradesh High Court
  • Bombay High Court Judge Justice Ujjwal Bhuyan sent to Telangana High Court
  • Gujarat High Court Judge Justice Paresh R Upadhyay transferred to Madras High Court
  • Justice MS S Ramachandra Rao of Telangana High Court sent to Punjab and Haryana High Court
  • Justice Arindam Sinha of Calcutta High Court sent to Orissa High Court
  • Kerala High Court Judge Justice AM Badar transferred to Patna High Court
  • Himachal Pradesh High Court Judge Justice Anoop Chitkara transferred to Punjab and Haryana High Court
  • Justice Yashwant Verma, Justice Vivek Agarwal, Justice Chandra Dhari Singh and Justice Ravi Nath Tilhari of Allahabad High Court were transferred to Delhi High Court, Madhya Pradesh High Court, Delhi High Court and Andhra Pradesh High Court respectively.
Chief Justice of India NV Ramana on October 2 said that the Supreme Court collegium, headed by him, is aiming to fill up vacancies in various high courts at the earliest. The entire process demands the Centre's support to enable access to justice and strengthen democracy.

Justice Ramana, in the presence of Law Minister Kiren Rijiju at an event organized by NALSA, had said, "Since May, my team has so far recommended the appointment of 106 judges and 9 new chief justices in various high courts. The government has now Till date, 7 out of 106 judges and 1 out of 9 Chief Justices have been approved."
