Death sentence / Malaysian citizen of Indian origin hanged in Singapore, was arrested with 42.72 grams of heroin

Nagethran Dharmalingam, a Malaysian man of Indian origin, was hanged after being convicted of drug trafficking. Dharmalingam's family said that a Singapore court sentenced him to death and was hanged on Wednesday morning. Earlier on Tuesday, the court had rejected the appeal of Dharmalingam's mother.

Dharmaling was convicted in 2010 in a drug trafficking case. After this, he appealed at many places to reduce the sentence, but his appeal was continuously rejected. He was to be hanged on November 10 last year, but the last appeal was made by Dharmalingam, which was also rejected.

Was caught smuggling in 2009

In 2009, Dharmalingam was caught with 42.72 grams of heroin. He was trying to enter Singapore. After the trial that followed, he was convicted in 2010 and sentenced to death.
