New Delhi: A man from Madhya Pradesh, built a Taj Mahal look-alike home for his wife. Anand Prakash Choksi, a resident of Burhanpur, built a house with four rooms that has a striking resemblance to the iconic monument which is also considered an ode to love by Emperor Shah Jahan to his wife Mumtaz.

According to an India Today report, Choksi always wondered why the Taj Mahal was not built in his city considering she died in Madhya Pradesh.

The report said the engineer studied the Taj Mahal closely and said that there were many challenges. He also took brought in artists from West Bengal and Indore for the carving inside the house. The house took about three years to build.

The dome of the house is at a height of 29 feet. It has Taj Mahal-like towers and the flooring of the house has been made from 'Makrana' of Rajasthan and the furniture has been prepared by the artisans of Mumbai. It has a big hall, 2 bedrooms downstairs, 2 bedrooms upstairs, a library and a meditation room.

The lighting both inside and outside the house is done in such a way that this house shines in the dark just like the real Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal was commissioned by Shah Jahan to be built as a mausoleum for Mumtaz Mahal which was titled 'Mumtaz Mahal'. The Taj Mahal in Agra is often cited as one of the Wonders of the World. The association with Mumtaz leads many to describe the Taj Mahal as feminine because the beauty of the monument is also taken as a representation of Mumtaz Mahal's beauty. Mumtaz Mahal died in 1631 in Burhanpur, Deccan (present-day Madhya Pradesh), during the birth of her 14th child.
