New Delhi : Monkeypox, which has become a cause of concern all over the world, is spreading in the country as well. Experts say that it is less contagious than corona, so there is no need to panic. Its patients recover in a few days with the usual treatment. It can be avoided by taking some precautions. Symptoms of monkeypox usually appear six to 13 days after being infected.Epidemiologist and infectious disease doctor Dr. Chandrakant Laharia said, 'The outbreak of monkeypox can be dealt with effectively. Smallpox can be controlled by isolating patients and their contacts and using approved smallpox vaccines. At present, vaccination of the general public should not be recommended.Protect yourself in these ways- Use mask and maintain necessary social distance- Make sure to get yourself checked when you come from a foreign trip- Wash hands thoroughly with soap and hand sanitizer after coming in contact with infected- Use PPE while caring for patients- Directly coming in contact with an infected person- By using clothes, towels of infected person- By biting an infected animal, touching its blood, body fluidsConsumption of meat and other products from infected animals- Unprotected sex with gay, bisexual men- By coughing, sneezing or touching the rash of an infected personThese organs have a special effect- Entering the body through the skin, eyes, nose or mouth- May cause skin rashes or blisters- May damage reproductive organsMonkeypox has also been seen to affect the cornea of the eye.
