Neeraj Chopra could have had a big accident after throwing a golden throw in his first attempt. The 24-year-old had slipped after his third attempt on Saturday during the Courtenay Games. The conditions were not conducive for the javelin throw event to be held in a wet and slippery run-up due to rain. Chopra had lost his balance and fell down after throwing the javelin in his third attempt. However, he has tweeted that he is feeling well.

Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal by throwing 86.69m in his first attempt. He made only three attempts, like second- and third-placed 2012 Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott (86.64m) of Trinidad and Tobago and world champion Anderson Peters (84.75m) of Grenada.

Chopra wrote in her Instagram post, "The conditions were tough due to the weather but happy with my first win of the season here at Cuortaine. I am feeling well and ready to start my Diamond League season on 30 June in the Bauhausgalan (Stockholm Diamond League).
