Five Indians and 14 foreign nationals were also on board the aircraft. The plane crashed while going from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Crash plane is being told of Yeti Airlines.

Yeti Airlines spokesman Sudarshan Bartaula said, "Ten foreign nationals, including two children, were on board the plane." News agency ANI quoted the Airport Authority as saying that there were 53 Nepalese, 5 Indians, 4 Russians, one Irish, 2 Koreans, 1 Argentine and a French national on board the aircraft. Nepalese journalist Dilip Thapa told NDTV that the massive fire in the debris made the rescue operation difficult.

Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has called an emergency cabinet meeting. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the aircraft took off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at 10.33 am. The aircraft was close to landing at Pokhara airport when it crashed into a river gorge on the banks of the Seti River. The accident occurred about 20 minutes after take-off, which suggests that the aircraft may have been descending. The flying time between the two cities is 25 minutes.

A local official has been quoted as saying that the plane caught fire as soon as it crashed and rescue workers were trying to extinguish it. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia condoled the loss of lives in the plane crash. According to the 'Republica' newspaper, while landing at Pokhara airport, the plane crashed on the banks of the Seti river between the old airport and the new airport. Giving information about the accident, ANI said that a 72-seater passenger plane crashed on the runway at Pokhara International Airport in Nepal. At present, the rescue work is going on and for this the airport has been closed.

A local official has been quoted as saying that the plane caught fire due to the crash and rescuers are trying to extinguish it. The Kathmandu Post quoted Sudarshan Bartaula, a spokesperson for Yeti Airlines, as saying that the ATR 72 Yeti Airlines plane crashed between the old airport and Pokhara International Airport. Smoke can be seen billowing from the crash site in pictures and videos of the crash posted on social media platforms. Many videos of the plane crash are going viral on social media.
