6 Airbags Mandatory: From October 1, 2023, the rule of 6 airbags in passenger cars will be implemented. Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has given this information. He said that the auto industry is facing a supply chain problem. Due to this, it has been decided that the decision to make 6 airbags mandatory in passenger vehicles will be implemented from October 1, 2023. Earlier this year, the Ministry of Road Transport had proposed to make 6 airbags mandatory from October 1, 2022.Giving information about this decision by tweeting, Nitin Gadkari wrote that keeping in mind the global supply chain problems facing the auto industry and its macroeconomic situation, it has been decided that 6 airbags in passenger vehicles of (M-1) category. The rule will be made mandatory from October 1, 2023.The Road Transport Minister further tweeted and wrote that the safety of all passengers traveling in any passenger vehicle is the topmost priority, irrespective of the price and variant.What is M1 category!According to the vehicle portal, under the M1 category, such motor vehicles come in which there are a total of 8 seats including the driver's seat and have a seating capacity of 8 people. It is believed that after this decision of the government, the cars of the entry-level segment will become expensive. Only the entry-level segment vehicles can see a price hike of more than Rs 17,000.
In fact, out of lakhs of vehicles plying on Indian roads, only a few select cars are getting the facility of 6 airbags. Less than 10 per cent of the cars in the country are equipped with 6 airbag features. Airbags are seen as one of the most important safety features in any passenger vehicle. And the facility of 6 airbags is available only in expensive vehicles.Safety of all passengers travelling in motor vehicles irrespective of their cost and variants is the foremost priority.

Let us tell you that some companies were earlier selling cars with only one airbag. Later the government made it mandatory to have 2 airbags in the car. All car companies were forced to upgrade from January 2022 this year. But recently, in view of the increasing number of road accidents, discussions started about making 6 airbags mandatory.Safety of all passengers travelling in motor vehicles irrespective of their cost and variants is the foremost priority.
