The promise of providing one million jobs by the central government in the next one and a half years can prove to be a big blow on unemployment. As of March 1, 2020, the total number of sanctioned posts in the center in the country was 40,04,941. Out of this, a total of 31,32,968 posts were recruited. The then Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh had told the Rajya Sabha in March this year that out of the total sanctioned posts at the Center, 8,71,973 lakh posts are vacant.
Presenting the report in December 2020, the Union Personnel Ministry had said that from the financial year 2007-08 to 2013-14, a total of 6,19,027 central jobs were given. Most of these jobs were given by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Central Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). At the same time, the Modi government has given 6,98,011 jobs in the last seven years. In 2014, the total number of sanctioned posts in the center was 36,45,584 which has now increased to 40,04,941.10 thousand posts vacant in central universitiesThe then Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had told the Rajya Sabha in December last year that a total of more than 10,000 posts are vacant in the central universities of the country. Out of this 6535 are regular academic posts. According to a written report given by the Central Government in Rajya Sabha, 403 academic posts in 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and 3876 in 23 Indian Institutes of Technology are vacant. According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), there are 54 central universities across the country.Even reserved category is not getting jobAccording to the information given by the Central Government in the Rajya Sabha this year, 1015 posts of Scheduled Castes, 590 of Scheduled Tribes and 1767 reserved for Other Backward Classes are vacant for faculty in the Central Universities of the country. In IITs, 32 posts of Scheduled Castes, 183 of Scheduled Tribes and 462 of Other Backward Classes are vacant for the faculty. Similarly, out of the seats reserved for academic posts in IIMs, 5,27 and 45 posts are vacant.9362 posts of officers are vacant in the armyAccording to the report of the Central Government, a total of 9362 posts of officers are vacant in the three armies of the country. The Defense Ministry had told the Rajya Sabha in December 2021 that 7476 posts of officers are vacant in the Indian Army, 1265 in the Navy and 621 in the Indian Air Force. Similarly, there are 91,177 vacancies in the Army, 11,166 in the Navy and 4850 in the Air Force. The Defense Ministry had said in its report that there is a crisis of officers and different categories of soldiers in all the units of the army.27% fewer jobs were found in 2021According to the National Pension System (NPS), the hiring rate in FY 2021 has been the lowest in three years. According to the report, in the year 2020, a total of 1,19,000 people were given jobs by the central government. In 2021, it had registered a decline of 27 per cent and the number of jobs provided by the Center declined by 21 per cent to 87,423. Similarly, states had given 1,07,000 fewer jobs in 2021 as compared to 2020. The main reason for the low jobs was the corona epidemic.The unemployment rate in the country is 7.3%According to the Center for Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in the country as on June 13, 2022 was 7.3 percent. The unemployment rate was 7.8 in urban areas and 7.0 percent in rural areas. In May 2022, the unemployment rate in Delhi was 13.6, Jharkhand 13.1, Uttarakhand 2.9, Uttar Pradesh 3.1 and Haryana 34.6 percent. The unemployment rate was 22.2 in Rajasthan and 17.4 per cent in Tripura.
