Pakistan has been kept on the gray list by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global organization that monitors money laundering and terror funding. Announcing this decision on Saturday, the FATF chief had clearly said that it has been decided to once again keep Pakistan under strict surveillance due to the rearing of terrorists like Hafid Saeed and Masood Azhar. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi sees the hand of 'foreign forces' in this shamelessly trying to cover up his handiwork despite being repeatedly blackened on his face. It is believed that he is referring to countries like India, which have left no stone unturned to put global pressure on Pakistan to crack down on terrorism.

According to a report in Radio Pakistan, Qureshi said that Pakistan had implemented almost the entire action plan and there was no place to keep it on the gray list. Taking a dig at the reasons given by the FATF, Qureshi said that it needs to be seen whether the FATF is being used for political purposes. He also said that some forces want to hang the sword of FATF over Pakistan. Qureshi said that there is a need to decide whether FATF is a technical forum or a political one.

However, Qureshi also acknowledged that whatever steps Pakistan is taking is in its own interest as well. He said, "What is our interest? Our interest is in preventing money laundering and terror financing, and we will continue to do whatever is in our best interest."
