Voting has started for the second phase of the assembly elections in Gujarat. Polling will be held on 93 seats in 14 districts of north and central Gujarat from 8 am to 5 pm. In the second phase, about 25 million voters will decide the fate of 833 candidates. On the other hand, Congress candidate from Danta Kantibhai Kharadi has been found safe. The fate of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is at stake in the voting.

On the other hand, Congress candidate from Danta Kantibhai Kharadi has been found safe. Rahul Gandhi had claimed in a tweet that BJP goons attacked Kharadi with a sword on Sunday night, after which he is missing.


The fate of veterans at stake in the second phase

The fate of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is at stake in the December 5 voting in Gujarat. He is contesting from Ghatlodia seat of Ahmedabad. At the same time, Patidar leader Hardik Patel is also contesting from Viramgam seat in Ahmedabad. Apart from these, the contest has become interesting here with Madhu Srivastava, the sitting BJP MLA from Vadodara contesting as an independent.


Lowest voting in first phase in 10 years

The first phase of voting for the Gujarat Legislative Assembly took place on 1 December i.e. Thursday. The voter turnout in the first phase in Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat was 63.31%. This figure is 5.20% less than the 2017 election. Not only this, the lowest voting in 10 years was recorded in this phase. In the first phase, 788 candidates were in the fray from 89 seats in 19 districts.


Low voting increased the concern of politicians

Low voting in the first phase in South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch has increased the tension of all the parties. After voting on 89 seats in this phase, all parties worked on a new strategy for 93 seats in North and Central-East Gujarat for the December 5 voting. There are 32 seats in North Gujarat and 61 seats in Central-East Gujarat. In 2017, the voter turnout in these constituencies was 70.76%.

Four and a half lakh voters will vote for the first time

There are a total of 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. According to the Election Commission, there are a total of 4.90 crore voters in the state. Of these, 2.53 crore are men and 2.37 crore are women. At the same time, there are 4.6 lakh voters in the state who will vote for the first time.
