56 aircraft will be purchased, mostly made in India

This airlift aircraft received by the Indian Army is fully capable of covering long distances with troops. Two years ago, a big deal worth Rs 21,935 crore was signed for the Indian Army under the Tata Airbus project. Under this, 56 aircraft are to be purchased. C-295 aircraft has been specially designed according to the army personnel. Its main feature is that the takeoff time of this aircraft is less as compared to other cargo aircraft. For this reason it is best suited for the movement of troops.

Know what is the specialty of C-295?

This aircraft can take off from a runway much shorter than the normal runway i.e. only 844 meters, whereas only 420 meters of runway is required for landing.

This plane can fly continuously for 11 hours. This is possible due to the facility of refueling in the air. Currently, apart from Spain, countries like Egypt, Canada, Poland are using this aircraft.

C-295 is completely effective for hilly areas. Up to nine tonnes of payload or 71 soldiers can be carried with short take-off and landing capability. It is a medium tactical transport aircraft.

C-295 can fly up to a height of 13533 feet with the help of one engine and if both engines work, it can go up to a height of 30 thousand feet.

Under Make in India, if the first 16 aircraft are left out of 56 aircraft, then the remaining aircraft will be made in India only. It will be made by Tata Advanced System Limited Company.

This aircraft can fly with a maximum weight of up to 9250 kg. Unlike other cargo aircraft, it does not require four or five crew members. This aircraft has two engines and its speed is 482 kilometers per hour.

India will be included among the elite countries as soon as it joins the fleet.

India will join the list of elite countries as soon as the first C-295 military transport aircraft is ready under the Tata-Airbus project in Gujarat. Currently only 11 countries have such capability. These include countries like America, Russia, Britain, France, Italy, China, Spain. C-295 is considered a very reliable aircraft for military and relief operations. These prove to be very effective for light lifts, not heavy lifts.

Defense expert Sandeep Thapar tells how C-295 aircraft is beneficial for India.

Retired Brigadier Sandeep Thapar, an expert in defense matters, told Zoom News Digital that aircraft like C-295 are for light lift, which will prove to be very beneficial for military operations as well as rescue operations in inaccessible areas.

In case of emergency, such aircraft are beneficial for transporting army personnel to the border at short notice.

If the road is bad or not built or there is an inaccessible area of the border, then the C-295 aircraft will be very effective. For example, in areas like Manipur where more soldiers have to be sent on short notice, then this will be useful.

C-295 aircraft prove to be very effective for quick movement and working on short notice. India conducted military operations in Maldives a few decades ago. These aircraft are also effective in such military operations. Because there is a need to send a large number of soldiers together. Response capability increases because they can be delivered at short notice.

India also has aircraft with the capacity to carry more than 200 soldiers.

Sandeep Thapar said that aircraft like C-295 will be useful for action in situations like Balakot airstrike and will be useful in basically internal situations. Thapar explains that the capacity of jumbo aircraft is more than planes like C-295. India also has IL-76 jumbo aircraft, which was taken from Russia. In this, more than 200 army soldiers can move together. If soldiers have to be transported to Leh and Ladakh, then these are the ones used. We have also purchased C-130J Super Hercules aircraft. It also has the capacity to carry 200 people.
