Karnataka Politics: Amid the tussle going on for quite some time in the Karnataka Congress over the post of Chief Minister, the state's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday. During the meeting, both the leaders appeared in a very good mood. In the picture that surfaced, Siddaramaiah is seen shaking hands with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi with his hand on his shoulder. Siddaramaiah also took a delegation with him. Let us tell you that there are reports of tussle between Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar for the post of CM in Karnataka.

DK Shivakumar warned of disciplinary action

Sharing the picture of the meeting on Twitter, Siddaramaiah wrote that he had congratulated Rahul Gandhi by visiting his residence in Delhi for being elected the Leader of the Opposition. Let us tell you that earlier, amid the ongoing debate over the possibility of changing the Chief Minister in Karnataka and the demand for making 3 more Deputy Chief Ministers, State Congress President DK Shivakumar on Saturday asked party workers and leaders to avoid making public statements on this issue and warned of disciplinary action. Shivakumar urged party men to 'keep their mouths shut' in the interest of the party and also requested seers not to interfere in political matters.

'Swamiji must have spoken about me out of affection for me'

There is a growing demand for one deputy chief minister each from Veerashaiva-Lingayat, SC/ST and minority community in the Karnataka cabinet. Currently, Shivakumar is the only deputy chief minister in the Siddaramaiah cabinet from the influential Vokkaliga community. Vokkaliga seer Kumar Chandrasekharanatha Swamiji of Vishwa Vokkaliga Mahasamasthan Math had on Thursday publicly urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to step down and make way for Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar. On the whole issue, Shivakumar said, 'There has been no discussion on any deputy chief minister and there is no question about the chief minister. Swamiji (Vokkaliga seer) must have spoken about me out of affection for me.'
