Delhi Weather Update: Various parts of the national capital Delhi and NCR received light rain on Friday morning, which brought a feeling of coolness in the weather. Some areas of Noida also received hailstorms along with heavy rains, while light drizzle was seen at other places. Due to these weather changes, the cold has increased in Delhi-NCR.

Weather condition:

According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature of Delhi on Friday was recorded at 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature at 20 degrees Celsius. 1.8 mm of rain was recorded in various parts of Delhi from 2.30 am to 5.30 am, while by 8:30 am this figure increased to 7.3 mm. Palam weather station received 11.3 mm rainfall, Lodhi Road received 6.8 mm and Pusa received 5.5 mm of rain.

Cold winds along with rain have further increased the cold in Delhi. Local resident Deepak Pandey said that the weather looks like Kashmir, and this is an ideal time to visit. Despite the cold, the rain has also reduced the pollution level, which is a positive aspect. At the same time, Raman Kushwaha said that the weather is very cold, but light rain has reduced pollution and it feels good to go out.

Weather ahead:

The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms and strong winds with rain in Delhi on Friday and Saturday. Light fog is also likely in the local weather conditions. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature around 20 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, light to moderate rain is also expected in the national capital on December 28.

Effect of pollution:

However, despite the rain, there has been no relief in the pollution situation in Delhi. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), as of 7 am on Friday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded in the 'very poor' category with 371. The AQI levels in various parts of Delhi remained worrisome: Anand Vihar recorded 398, IGI Airport (T3) 340, Aya Nagar 360, Lodhi Road 345, ITO 380, Chandni Chowk 315 and Punjabi Bagh 386.

Conclusion:

Although the rain has made the weather pleasant in Delhi and brought some relief from pollution, the air quality condition still remains poor. According to the weather department forecast, rain is likely to continue in Delhi and other states in the next 24 hours, which may prove to be a relief, but more concrete steps are needed to control the pollution level.
