Farmer Protest News: Farmers in Punjab today observed a 10-hour bandh over their demands, which will start at 7 am and continue till 4 pm. The bandh is affecting road and rail traffic across the state. Main roads and railway lines have been blocked on Aerocity Road in Mohali. However, emergency services and airport-bound passengers have been allowed to pass.

Phase of hunger strike and Gandhian protest

The hunger strike of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has entered the 35th day today. Farmer leaders in Khanauri announced to continue their peaceful protest in a Gandhian way. They questioned the government whether it would resort to the use of force to suppress their movement.

Impact on traffic and transport

The police have issued a special traffic advisory regarding the Punjab bandh. Many major routes are blocked, and people have been advised to use alternative routes.

163 trains have been cancelled, and the routes of many trains have been changed.

Government bus services will be closed for four hours from 10 am to 2 pm. This will affect the operation of more than 1,000 buses.

Farmers' solidarity

A Khap Mahapanchayat was held in Haryana's Hisar yesterday in support of the farmers' movement. It was attended by prominent leaders like Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political), and wrestler Bajrang Punia. He appealed to the people of Punjab to actively participate in today's bandh.

Withdrawal of cases: All cases registered during the movement should be withdrawn.

Farmers' loan waiver: With the implementation of pension scheme.

Reform of crop insurance scheme: The government should bear its premium.

Lakhimpur Kheri incident: Punishment to the culprits.

Reforms in MNREGA: 200 days of employment and ₹700 daily wages.

Crackdown on fake seeds and fertilizers: Demand for making strict laws.

Employment for landless farmers: Employment to children and ban on free trade agreements.
