New Delhi : Due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, many European countries, including the US, imposed sanctions on Russia, but India, keeping its interests in mind, found a middle way and kept buying oil from Russia. On behalf of India, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar gave a befitting reply to the question of foreign media on many forums. In this episode, once again Jaishankar gave a blunt answer and explained why India is buying oil from Russia.

Actually, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India is a country with a per capita income of 2000 dollars. The people here are not those who can afford the increased energy prices. So it is my obligation and moral duty to give them the best deal. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar was interacting with the Indian community in Bangkok, Thailand. At the same time, he gave this answer in response to a question related to buying oil from Russia.

'India also deserves the best deal'

He said that every country will try to ensure the best and fair deal to reduce the rising energy prices and India is doing exactly that. Jaishankar also said that if Europe is buying oil from the Middle East and other sources, then India also has the right to ensure the best deal.

'We are very honest about our interests'

Jaishankar also said that we are working very honestly and openly about our interests. The citizens of the country cannot bear the burden of such high oil gas prices. In the coming time, western countries will understand this and may not welcome India's move but they will believe that India has taken the right step for its citizens.

'Oil and gas prices disproportionately high'

The External Affairs Minister also said that oil and gas prices are disproportionately high. A lot of traditional suppliers are turning to Europe because the continent is buying less oil from Russia. Europe is buying a lot of oil from the Middle East and elsewhere, so who will supply it to India. Every country will naturally try to get the best deal for its citizens.

Let us tell you that India's decision to buy oil from Russia in the midst of the Ukraine war has been criticized for a long time. But External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has consistently given a befitting reply to those who objected to this decision. He has fully justified this move of India.
