Kanpur News: The spices you eat are ruining your health. Samples of 16 companies including Ashok and Bhola Sabji Masala have failed the test. UP Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) says that many products of the companies are not fit for consumption. In fact, FSDA officers raided spice companies in Kanpur in May this year. Samples of 35 products of different spices of 16 companies were taken and sent to Agra for testing. Reports of 23 of these have come out.The amount of pesticide and insecticide was found to be very high in it. Insects have also been found. After this, FSDA has banned the sale of these spice products. FSDA officers collected samples from Kanpur companies. Deficiencies were found in the products of two Ashok Masala companies. Their products- coriander powder, garam masala and matar paneer masala were found unfit for consumption. Similarly, the sale of Bhola Masala products has been banned.Harmful substances have been found in the products of 14 other companies sold locally. Pesticides were also found in the turmeric powder of these companies.Raids were conducted on 13 spice factoriesAssistant Food Commissioner Sanjay Pratap Singh said- Insects, contaminated substances (pesticides) have been found in 23 samples of the companies. After the samples of MDH and Everest spices failed, samples were taken on the instructions of the government. The Food and Drugs Department conducted a campaign in May and raided 13 spice factories of the city.Sent notice to companies and asked for a responseHe said- 35 vegetable masala samples were taken from different factories. All were sent to the lab for testing. Now the Food Department has issued notices to the owners of the companies whose spice samples have failed and asked for a response.If the answer is not satisfactory, a case will be registered against all. A case will be filed against them in the ADM City Court. After this, a fine will be imposed on all.Dangerous pesticide carbendazim foundDangerous pesticides have been found in 16 samples and micro bacteria in 7. For the first time, deadly bacteria have been found in spices in such a large quantity.Carbendazim has also been found, which is used to control fungus. The use of carbendazim can have many side effects on health. It has a dangerous effect on the heart and kidneys. Infertility and other reproductive problems can occur.Propargite added to make spices last longerPropargite has been found in another famous spice. It is an arachnicide. It is used in the fields to protect crops from insects. It is especially used against spiders.Can affect liver and kidneysThe harmful elements found in spices can have a bad effect on the body. Their use can cause tears, cough, heart, liver and kidneys.According to FSDA, vegetable spices were being supplied from where samples were taken, apart from Kanpur, to many cities including Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Varanasi, Fatehpur, Bahraich. That is, there is enough evidence to conclude that it can cause cancer in humans. Ethylene oxide can cause cancers such as lymphoma and leukemia. Stomach and breast cancer can also occur.
