Velupillai Prabhakaran: Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader Velupillai Prabhakaran has been termed as a joke by the Sri Lankan government. In fact, 14 years after the announcement of Prabhakaran's death, Tamil leader Pazha Nedumaran claimed that the LTTE chief is still alive and will come to the fore at the right time. Pazha claimed this on Monday and said that this is a favorable time for our leader to come. After Pazha's claim, there was a discussion about Prabhakaran all over the world and people started expressing the possibility that soon the LTTE group would become active once again. However, calling this claim a joke, the Defense Ministry of Sri Lanka rejected it outright. Sri Lanka, citing DNA evidence, said that Prabhakaran had died in 2009.Sri Lanka's Defense Ministry spokesman Colonel Nalin Herath said in a statement, 14 years ago it has already been confirmed that Prabhakaran has died. He was gunned down on 19 May 2009. This was also confirmed by Prabhakaran's DNA.In the northern and eastern districts of Sri Lanka, the LTTE raised the flag to fight for the rights of Tamils. However, in the midst of protests, the Sri Lankan army had announced the death of Prabhakaran. The army announced his death on May 19, 2009.The Sinhalese people in Sri Lanka have fiercely opposed the Rajapaksa family and there is an atmosphere of instability politically as well. Pazha told that this environment is better for Prabhakaran to appear. However, even before this many times the leaders of Tamil Nadu claimed that Prabhakaran was alive.
