Bihar Stampede News: On the fourth Monday of Sawan, there was a stampede in Siddheshwarnath temple during Shravani Mela in Jehanabad, Bihar. In this, 7 Kanwariyas died due to being crushed. More than 12 people are injured in the accident. The incident happened around 12 o'clock late on Sunday night. Eyewitness Manoj said, 'There was a fight between flower vendors near the temple. After this there was chaos. People started moving forward by climbing over each other. I was also buried under the dead body, people pulled me out. If I had stayed for 1-2 minutes more, I would have also died. The police-administration is responsible for the accident. No policeman was seen there. Policemen were found on the way, but there was no one in the temple. At least 10 to 15 people must have died and 50 to 60 people must have been injured. I am also injured.'

The family of the deceased alleges that the reason for the incident is lathi charge. Devotees were climbing down the Barabar hill from one side and climbing from the other. When chaos broke out, the administration staff engaged in management started wielding sticks. This led to a stampede, devotees started running to save their lives and got buried.

Krishna Kumar, a relative of the deceased, says, 'Around 50 people have died in this incident. Devotees who had come for darshan are saying so. People are in the hospital since 2 am. The administration has not made proper arrangements. If the administration's vehicle had been there, people's lives could have been saved. There has been negligence. 4-4 bodies are being sent in one ambulance. Some bodies are being removed.'
