He had said that at the end of the film, the heroine should go with another hero. When the writer refused to make this change, Shahrukh refused to do the film. Later this role was given to Ajay Devgan, and he played it brilliantly.

Director Subhash Ghai was also dissatisfied

Director Subhash Ghai was also not completely satisfied with the casting of the film. According to Karan Rajdan, Ghai had warned him that this film could fail. He had said that Ajay Devgn would not fit in the lead role, and Raveena Tandon's streak of flops would continue. However, when the film was released, it bombed at the box office.
