Venue not decided yet

The exact venue for the opening ceremony of the ODI World Cup is yet to be decided, but it is expected that it will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The iconic stadium will host not only the opening match on 5th October but also the final match on 19th November. Members of the ICC, members of boards around the world and representatives of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be present on the occasion.

As per reports in Cricbuzz, the opening ceremony is expected to be short but glitzy, which will culminate in a cultural extravaganza. During this, the captains of the ten teams will also be present there. The ICC will organize a formal briefing session for the captains during the event which is known as 'Captain's Day'. A day before the opening ceremony, six of the 10 teams have to take part in warm-up matches. In these matches, India will take on Netherlands, Australia will take on Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take on Afghanistan.

The captains are expected to reach Ahmedabad in the morning of 4th October, photoshoot of all the ten captains will be done in the evening. The ODI World Cup played in the year 2011 was organized in India and Bangladesh. During that time the opening ceremony was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. On that occasion, the captains were taken to the ground in elaborately decorated rickshaws which still lives in the hearts of the fans.
