Bangladesh Violence: After the dissolution of Sheikh Hasina's government, there have been several incidents of attacks on the Hindu community in Bangladesh, which is causing tension in the relations between the two countries. Followers of Hinduism in Bangladesh, who make up about eight percent of the country's 17 crore population, are constantly falling prey to violence these days. After the ouster of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5, attacks on Hindus have intensified in different parts of Bangladesh, and more than 200 attacks have been reported so far.Meanwhile, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry visited Bangladesh, where he raised incidents of attacks on the minority community, especially Hindus, during a meeting with the Bangladeshi leadership. Mistry expressed India's deep concern to the Bangladesh government about the safety of minorities. After his visit, the Bangladesh government admitted that there have been 88 violent incidents against minorities from August 5 to October 22, in which 70 people have been arrested. Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam also said that the number of arrests is likely to increase, as new cases are coming to light, especially in areas like Sunamganj and Central Gazipur.Arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das and attacks on temples in BangladeshThe arrest of Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh has also been a topic of discussion in the last few weeks. Apart from this, incidents of attack on Hindu temples in Bangladesh have also increased. The attacks on temples and the arrest of Hindu saints make it clear that the situation is worsening day by day. India and other countries have expressed their deep concern over this violence, and have appealed to the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of Hindus.Increase in attacks on minoritiesThe increase in incidents of violence against the Hindu community in Bangladesh clearly shows that the political situation there is very unstable at the moment. After August 5, there have been more than 200 attacks on Hindus in more than 50 districts of Bangladesh, including attacks on temples, violence and religious persecution. Although the Bangladesh government has argued that only a few of these incidents were due to the faith of Hindus, most of the incidents appear to be linked to political reasons.Interim government chief Muhammad Yunus has stressed that the victims in some incidents may have had former political ties, which were associated with the former ruling party. But, it is also clear that this violence has increased tension in the relations between the two countries. After the removal of the Bangladesh government led by Sheikh Hasina, the situation between the two countries has worsened further, and now this was the first visit of a senior Indian government official after the interim government came to power in Bangladesh.Impact on India-Bangladesh relationsThe attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh have affected India-Bangladesh relations. Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave the country after massive protests in August, which soured the relations between the two countries. Just days later, India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry visited Bangladesh and expressed concern over the safety of minorities, indicating the need for dialogue and cooperation between the two countries to ensure the safety of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. In this context, India's concern is that the violence against minorities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh could be a sign of danger to the country's social and political stability. Meanwhile, pressure is mounting on the Bangladesh government to conduct an impartial investigation into these incidents and take strict action against the culprits to ensure the safety of minorities in Bangladesh.ConclusionAttacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, arrest of a Hindu saint and attacks on temples, all these incidents have not only affected the internal situation of Bangladesh but have also complicated India-Bangladesh relations. The Indian government is strongly demanding that the safety of the Hindu community in Bangladesh be ensured and strict action be taken against the culprits. The solution to this crisis will depend on dialogue and cooperation between the two countries to ensure the safety of the minority community in Bangladesh.
